Allister reveals statements of support from Tories

21 May 2009

On the day David Cameron visits Northern Ireland TUV MEP Jim Allister has revealed that his postal election communication carries statements of support from two Tory MEPs.  Jim Allister enjoys a close working relationship with several Euro-sceptic Conservative Euro MPs.

In his literature Dan Hannan MEP - all-time internet star, following the 2.5 million hits on his recent attack on Gordon Brown in the European Parliament - declares:-
"Northern Ireland is tremendously lucky to have Jim Allister...he is a champion of the whole of the UK, not just for Ulster, a genuine patriot, a tireless defender of our national interests. Jim Allister is Northern Ireland's best friend in the European Parliament."

Then, Roger Helmer MEP, from East Midlands, states:-
"With his analytical mind, Jim Allister, in a few sentences, can expose the Lisbon Treaty as the charter for EU super-statehood, which it undoubtedly is. His presence in Parliament, not just as a great ambassador for Northern Ireland, but as a leader of Euro-scepticism has been invaluable. I hope very much we shall continue to work together in the next European Parliament."

Commenting, Jim Allister said:
“I enjoy a good working relationship with a number of Conservative Euro-sceptic MEP’s, in addition to the two MEP’s quoted in my election literature.

I have also had the benefit of on-the record statements of support declared in the European Parliament from 3 other MEP’s: Chris Heaton-Harris MEP, Syed Kamall MEP and Martin Callanan MEP”.
