Leading for Ulster

19 May 2009

Speaking as the European Parliament published MEP attendance records for the term 2004-2009, Jim Allister highlighted his record as the best attendee of the three Northern Irish MEPs.

"I welcome the publication of MEP attendance, as it will show, once again, my superior record in the European Parliament as the leading MEP for Northern Ireland. My attendance record of almost 97% shows that I missed just a handful of days over the course of 5 years. As trust in politicians is at an all-time low, following the embarrassing expenses revelations from Westminster, I hope these figures can re-assure the public that some politicians are continuing to work hard on their behalf. Combined with my far superior speaking record, it is clear I have delivered on my promise of Leading for Ulster.

Unionists, however, may be gratified to hear that Barbara de Brun has only attended four out of every five of Parliament sittings. Her far-left agenda is so out-of-touch with Northern Ireland's best interests, that she serves Ulster best by staying away!"

Note to Editors: Attendance records were published this week by the European Parliament, and are available on each member's profile page.
