Allister updated on Rose Energy progress
02 May 2009
Jim Allister MEP met with Osvaldo Mauro-Hun, Chief Executive of Rose Energy Ltd this week. The MEP was updated on progress made to date regarding the planning application for the proposed biomass power plant.
Commenting on the meeting, the MEP said,
“My support for this very necessary and forward thinking project in its own right is well known, and for the need to secure Government support to enable works to commence without further delay. Rose Energy will undoubtedly be a flagship project for green energy in Northern Ireland, exemplifying the positive role local farmers can make in helping society meet its renewable energy obligations. At the same time, this project will ensure the sustainability of the local poultry industry, an important employer here.”
“I am convinced of the merits of this project, and I am hopeful that Government will give the go ahead within the coming months. The construction industry too would benefit from this massive £100 million plus project at this time of downturn.”
