Allister supports Israeli action

Statement by TUV MEP Jim Allister:-
"I greatly admire the tenacity and courage of Israel in defending its people from relentless rocket attacks and in hunting down the Hamas terrorists who have been inflicting their murderous mayhem on ordinary citizens in southern Israel for years.
“In my book Israel is fully entitled to defend itself and is right to do so. Any unfortunate civilian losses in Gaza are because Hamas, with callous calculation, has been using the cover of densely populated areas to launch their evil attacks. I am not surprised that Sinn Fein, whose IRA also cared nothing for civilians, are loud apologists for the Palestinian terrorist cause.
“Israel accepts a two state solution. Palestinians and their Iranian backers do not, insisting rather that Israel must be liquidated. Thus the raw truth is that if Hamas laid down its arms there could be peace, but if Israel laid down its arms it would be annihilated. Hence, it must defend itself. EU talk of ceasefires, which fail to recognise these realities, is pointless rhetoric which if acted upon would be exploited by Hamas to regroup, as in the past."
