Allister welcomes DUP shift

05 September 2008

I am pleased that TUV’s highlighting of the powers which the devolution of policing and justice will give McGuinness has forced the DUP to state clearly and unambiguously that OFMDFM will not have a role in the appointment of the judiciary. Nigel Dodds may like to pretend that this was always party policy but the facts show that they studiously avoided the issue. If it has always been DUP policy to oppose these powers going to OFMDFM why did the Party not raise the issue in the Special Assembly Committee which looked at Policing and Justice chaired by Jeffery Donaldson?
