TUV would relish election - Allister

02 June 2008

Speaking to the Central Council of TUV tonight, Jim Allister MEP welcomed the prospect of an early Assembly election.

Mr Allister said: “With one by-election performance we spooked the DUP/Sinn Fein Government, what would a Province-wide poll not do? TUV would be ready and eager to take on the challenge of affording voters the opportunity to reject IRA/Sinn Fein in government and the absurdity of mandatory coalition. Calling the DUP to account for embracing unrepentant terrorists at the heart of government would be a pleasure. Likewise, the broken promises on water rates, education and a huge financial package would feature prominently.

I suspect though that the mutual vested interest of the Stormont Parties will ensure they devise a way to avoid facing the people. I hope I’m wrong and that we will soon have an opportunity to vote against the present regime.”
